Blog #9 South Island trip 2021 Hanmer and Home through the Lewis Pass

Now I’m on the final leg of my homeward journey, 35deg in both Christchurch and Hanmer.
I took the sculpture walk through the the forest, certainly worth a look.
Christchurch sculptor Andrew Lyons was commissioned to make all the carvings
from one giant Redwood tree in Hanmer that had to be removed.

Then I started taking photos of just the bark on the various trees

And then back to the wooden sculptures,

There was another one of those transferablepainted stones

so I took this is st.  one and put it below the sign at the northern end of the St James walkway in the Lewis Pass.
Parked in Hanmer this sweet Ford hot Rod from Dunedin

Loved the no paint bare shiney metal which was clear lacquered.

An exceptional sunset in the Hanmer sky and all over Canterbury.

Played out over the skies

I walked up Conical Hill mid afternoon, below is the sun lite tree roots track

I took a different way down back to the village, through lovely scenery by the golf course.

Heading north through The Lewis Pass with changing weather,
4 seasons seemed to be happening all at once.

Well that’s the end of this particular tiki tour...but with only one night at home we take off once more showing Christines sister Kath and her husband Jim, refugees from Whangaparoa, in the far traffic gridlocked north.

So till the Next one (or two)
Stay safe, Have fun and be creative.
Jimu and Christine.
