Kia Ora and G’day.
I thought I’d repost part of this very first clowning around blog from Jan 2017.
Much of it still holds true today.
I feel very privileged and luckily to be still going down the same road and have now widened our travels to Australia.
This is the beginning of the ClowningAroundNZ blog.
I have set this up separately from my Visionari travel blog which goes back well over 6 years.
The Visionari blog was a great record of travels to both foreign lands and trips in NZ, however this blog is about new directions and travelling in NZ as a Clown. It is now linked to a Facebook page and the Clowning Around business card.
My mission with my travels is to entertain kids and adults...to have fun and share it!
There is far too much grey our there, and I don't mean grey hair. I mean much of society is stuck, doing things from duty, from red tape, living drab grey lives, avoiding humour-us contact with life because they fear something bad will happen...Gawd they could even smile...and joke right back.
My belief is that with proper social, simple harmless fun and some crazy clowning and humorous tom foolery we all will feel better and happier. I know I do.
Many people comment (favourably...mostly) about the colourful hats and clothes I wear, some even say...oh I couldn't wear that...I say...why not!
At every age you are only this age once...so enjoy it.
This was at the age of 13 in the School Football team
(I'm second from the right top row)
So this blog will challenge you and me to live life to the full (and fool) no matter what age.
To have fun and be Fun...for most this will be a "New Concept" and this blog is all about my efforts. successes and failures in having fun...having fun, stepping outside of the norms, as we travel around New Zealand in our motorhome called "Clowning Around".
I will record the people we meet, the places we go and the humorous contacts we have.
No doubt this will be fun...otherwise why do it!
Creativity is King...fun is Queen...these are the rulers of my present world...there is a whole world out there that needs funning up.
How lucky can I get...it's all about attitude...one creates one's own luck...most simple things are actually quite hard to do...I believe we have lost the simple art of having Fun. Most kids under 8 still have this ability, and I believe it can be re-found, nurtured and developed at any age...simply by having fun with people...one to one...with social humour...so let the journey begin...to boldly go where most kids go...to have fun...its healthy and above all FUN!
Get the idea?
I recently performed with Flossie the Ballon lady at the Nelson Lantern Parade. We both blew huge bubbles drifting off the top of the Centre of New Zealand at Stanley park. It was a magical event, kids and adults were excited and gathered to burst the bubbles as soon as they took flight. For 90 minutes as the sun went down on a most pleasant evening we were literally bubbling with delight. Such simple large bubbles created so much joy.
How hard does life need to be, when such a simple act as blowing bubbles is joyfull and blissful?
Now back in real 2019 time, the photos below are from a year ago when we were travelling in NZ at Glenorchy, near Queenstown.
I visited a local tourist attraction and asked if I could blow my whistle for fun on their shearing board.
I gave my phone over to the farmer who was taking photos when this little Korean girl started impromptu dancing to my music.
These are the magical moments that I will be hopefully creating as we travel around Australia. This will be what this blog is all about!
Last week’s magical moments are captured below when I went over to Motueka and captured this Piwakawaka, perfectly in friendly mode!
I also called in to see a woodworker by the name of Phil Baker, well into his 80’s, has been working in wood for over 65 years and still working daily.
Below is an amazing 5th scale NZ house he’s building...it’s nearing completion after 3000 hours, complete with internal staircase, individual shingles on the roof and wallpapered walls. A very impressive guy who has also travelled the world by tandem and other various vehicles, built 7 houses and is also an excellent photographer.
Pretty incredible Phil!
All the doors and windows work...
Even the drawers!
So off we head across the Tasman Sea for more adventures in Australia. Below are some graphics
I have either made or am getting made to adorn the caravan and the tow vehicle.
The Caravan’s nickname is “The Fantail”
And the Ford Ranger is the “Two Old Farts” machine.
I will keep you updated as we go ..... oh happy days.
Till then stay safe, have fun and be creative....we will B ....BIG TIME!
Just “Clowning Around” NZ and OZ
Jimu & Christine
