Punakaiki, Trumans Track and Charleston.

I needed some repairs to my alto Saxophone which was a large part in going down to the Wild Foods Festival in the first place. My friend and fellow sax player and fixer, Danny lives in Greymouth was also playing with the band Not Just Jazz at the Wild Foods Festival, who were the first band up on the day at the Festival.
At 86 years old my 1935 Conn is still a joy to play.
In my many travels around the world this saxophone travelled with me,
it’s only right I keep her well looked after!
So off I headed North on the coast road towards Westport.
But first a few photos of the Grey River from the Cobden bridge

First stop was Punakaiki to see the famous Pancake Rocks.
What country are we in ... China?

No wonder they are a serious tourist attraction

Further up the road is Trumans track, another favourite place of mine to visit.
It’s a special place...

Especially on such a day with the tides allowing more exploration along the beach.

This is me parked up in Charleston on my brothers section, within walking distance to Constant Bay
A great place to watch the sun go down in the sea.

The next morning I walked past the Buller Council chambers, spotting this sign, thinking now isn’t that great.....
The mayor saw me and came out for a chat..
How good is that!

11k North of Westport is a sweet little park up, I’ve used before.

Heavy rain overnight and a high tide swept the beach clean.
Some amazing patterns in the sand kept me amused for quite some time!

That’s all folks.
Next I’m continuing north towards Karamea.
See you in the next blog.

Cheers
Jimu
