Onwards and upwards through to Warkworth, which I found to be a very well populated cafe town.
This Cafe had a lot of Beatles photos and memorabilia.
The real reason I called into Warkworth was to visit the camera shop for a screen protector.
This was there hi tec solution.
Simply drip the solution onto the screen wait two minutes
and wipe off
Did the trick!
Reflections under the bridge
Reflections on the water
I biked out to Wilsons Cement works.
A little ride out of town.
Onwards to Whangarei, I thought this was the park up for the night
Right by a busy roundabout.
So I got the uni off for a ride
In the centre of the town near the water they are building a museum to Hunterwasser, the famous guy who did the amazing art work tiling at the toilets in Kawakawa.
Not quite finished yet, but looking amazing!
Biking back to the bus I found the “Town Basin” area which has a much better motorhome parking area and therefore quickly moved there.
But not before first getting my rewards for uni-cycling along the river pathways.
I walked past the info centre, not open at this hour,
but I know this large sculpture must be of a Puriri moth.
Many murals and art references around the town are in evidence.
I particularly liked this one, a private garage door near the free Motorhome parking area
I was driving down to South Whananaki on a gravel road.
and struck some road works,
a digger was working digging a channel across the road
but the road workers simply held the string line down with there foot
allowing me to drive across.
I had no idea what was at the end of this road...
It was quite a surprise.
Originally constructed so the local school children could walk to school constructed in 1947.
Previously the local school teacher rowed a boat across twice per day.
This was a local (who was also from London) with his retired racehorse called Kenny
He was going to the other side of the estuary,
which would not include Kenny actually having to swim
The Te Arora trail passes though this area so I went on a brief walk
The friendly Piwakawaka visited me at one stage and I managed to capture a few images.
I have been told this is the area where Winston Peters lives
A flower of a different sort, still blooming!
Onward up the coast stopping sometimes to take photos.
Below is the Gallery and Cafe at Helena Bay, quite a lovely establishment
The grounds
The Gallery
was also impressive
The outside sculptures for sale...
The Cafe
The view
The Dog .....
only 18months old
Tomorrow is another day!
Hope you had fun today?
Next I head to Russel, Keri Keri
And start the journey south to pick up Christine
Stay safe
Have fun
And
Be Creative
