With fresh graphics on the bus we head of for Picton after leaving Bella in the cattery for a months holiday.
Getting their a bit early we have coffee in a cafe and spot unusual panniers on these mountain bikes.
The Bluebridge Ferry was late in boarding and getting away, we followed the Kaitaki up the sound towards Cook Strait.
Once landed in Wellington, we headed through the peak hour traffic to park up at Evans Bay, which was quite full.
It was one of those bright super clear Wellington days, hardly any wind, so I took the opportunity to ride the 36er Uni around the car parking space at the Marina.
I made the mistake of chatting to a local returning from his boat at the marina, and got a diatribe about the tourists using the free Wellington Council park up at Evans Bay, and doing their dishes in the sea, etc, etc, etc.
We were heading north to the Wairarapa, but first I had to pick up an ordered Samson Busking amp from the Rock Shop in Cuba Street. Not expecting to get a park near I walked in from the Kent Terrace area, and upon arrival at the Rock shop.....what dya know...plently of parking at 9.30am on a friday morning.
Out through Upper Hut and over the Rimutaka Hill, we stopped for a breather on the top.
This March really must have been something to see.
No one about in or at the Featherson Menz Shed, I've since learnt this is only one of four in Featherston!
Most impressive thing for me about Featherston is this sculpture across from the Visitor Centre.
Already I am in catchup mode with these blogs after only three weeks away, I have enough material for at least 5 more blogs. The new Wireless Nation Modem and NZMCA data in the bus is working quite good when near the larger population centers, however we went through the remote areas of the Wairarapa, Ngawi, the Putangirua Pinnacles, Cape Palliser, Castle Point and onto Herbertville, which all had no signal....before heading to Napier...so plenty to report!
Hopefully I will crank out a few more soon and get more up to date...watch this space.
Till then have fun...like their is no tomorrow......only today counts!
Jimu & Christine
Fun is meant to be Fun!
