Clowning Around NZ....We're Now officially Retired with the whole of NZ as our playground!

Kia ora.

This is the beginning of the ClowningAroundNZ blog.

I have set this up separately from my visionari travel blog which goes back well over 6 years.
The visionari blog was a great record of travels to both foreign lands and trips in NZ, however this blog is about new directions and travelling in NZ as a Clown. It is now linked to a Facebook page and the Clowning Around business card.

My mission with my travels is to entertain kids and adults...to have fun and share it!
There is far too much grey our there, and I don't mean grey hair. I mean much of society is stuck, doing things from duty, from red tape, living drab grey lives, avoiding humour-us contact with life because they fear something bad will happen...Gawd they could even smile........and joke right back.

My belief is that with proper social, simple harmless fun and some crazy clowning and  humous tom foolery we all will feel better and happier. I know I do.
Many people comment (favourably...mostly) about the colourfull hats and clothes I wear, some even say...oh I couldn't wear that...I say....why not!
At every age you are only this age once...so enjoy it.

This was at the age of 13 in the School Football team
(I'm second from the right top row)

Over 50 years later...on the Coromandel Peninsula

As recent retiree's...we have all the time to be whatever we want to be....to boldly go forth in the manner we want to with gay abandon...or we can do what most grey hairs do.....shrink eventually towards the old folks homes and spending all day in front of a TV, watching re-runs.

So this blog will challenge you and me to live life to the full (and fool) no matter what age.

To have fun and be Fun....for most this will be a "New Concept" and this blog is all about my efforts. successes  and failures in having fun....having fun, stepping outside of the norms, as we travel around New Zealand in our Motorhome called "Clowning Around"

I will record the people we meet, the places we go and the humourus contacts we have.
No doubt this will be fun.......otherwise why do it!

Creativity is King...fun is Queen...these are the rulers of my present world.....there is a whole world out there that needs funning up.

How lucky can I get......it's all about attitude... one creates one's own luck.....most simple things are actually quite hard to do...I believe we have lost the simple art of having Fun. Most kids under 8 still have this ability, and I believe it can be re-found, nurtured and developed at any age...simply by having fun with people...one to one...with social humour....so let the journey begin....to boldly go where most kids go....to have fun...its healthy and above all FUN!

Get the idea?

I recently performed with Flossie the Ballon lady at the Nelson Lantern Parade. We both blew huge bubbles drifting off the top of the Centre of New Zealand at Stanley park. It was a magical event, kids and adults were excited and gathered to burst the bubbles as soon as they took flight. For 90 minutes as the sun went down on a most pleasant evening we were literally bubbling with delight. Such simple large bubbles created so much joy.
How hard does life need to be, when such a simple act as blowing bubbles is joyfull and blissful?

We headed over to Golden Bay to relax spending a night at the Doc carpark at Harwoods Hole on the top of the Takaka Hill

We had shower of hail pass through, proving that in the mountains the weather is very changeable any time of year. A quiet cruise through Takaka and Collingwood (check out Ngang Art Gallery & Cafe in Collingwood....a unique place in a unique place)

Onward to Westhaven Inlet and we found the old Mangerakau Wharf to park up and chill out for Christmas

When one chills out and the light is right I start to see Wabi Sabi.
Wabi Sabi ia a Japan term for a certain type of beauty.
The beauty in the normal average things one doesn't usually see, like these patterns created by rusting iron. Once your eye tunes into wabi sabi, you will see it everywhere!

After this Christmas trip over to Golden Bay,  I decided the step in the bus needed a door put in for extra storage....6 hours later I had ripped out all the surplus non working air conditioning unit out of the bus.

This left a huge hole in the ceiling above the bed as below.

Well over one week later I have finished all the extra storage cut into the air-conditioning duct and made a large storage unit above the bed.

The finished storage in the air-conditioning duct

The completed shoes storage which started this little refurbishment!

I have also re-hung the pantry door to allow better access from the fridge and fitted new sliding baskets. Also we've created better access to the front by removing a cushion and lowering the back rest.
So happy days are here again...soon we're heading north on Bluebridge towards Napier, Auckland and New Plymouth

Everyday above ground is a great day!
